Laraine has a passion for serving others, especially as an educator.
Education & Prior Work Experience
After being born and raised in Oregon, she began her university studies at Brigham Young University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in education. Laraine received her Master of Education at Washington State University with a focus in Diverse Learners and a certification in At-Risk Learners. At Portland State University, she secured credentials in Educational Leadership.
Strengths
Laraine has had the opportunity to serve school communities in a multitude of roles. Her background includes experience as a general education teacher, special education teacher, educational consultant in the areas of alternative education and behavioral supports, school district behavior specialist, private and public school principal, district administrator, and adjunct education professor. For the last five years, Laraine served as a school director in rural Alaska.
Interests
Laraine has been married to her best friend for 34 years. She is the mother of three and adores her four grandchildren. Outdoor activities, gardening, homemaking, and being a fan of football, basketball, and baseball are some of her preferred activities. As a lifelong learner, Laraine is always ready for a new adventure.
