Education & Prior Work Experience

Dr. Kristen Brown received her doctorate in nursing practice from the University of Utah specializing in psychiatric mental health. Kristen has worked in the addiction/mental health field since 2009 helping others find hope and recovery. Her doctoral internship focused on children and adolescents with mental health disorders including impulsivity control disorders, addiction, mood disorders, anxiety, and ADHD.

Strengths

Kristen’s education started at Brigham Young University where she received a bachelor’s in Sports Medicine. She received a second bachelor’s in Nursing from Utah Valley University before finishing her doctorate at the University of Utah. Kristen is passionate about helping others find recovery through connection and relationships and she is grateful to work with a team of professionals who understand the human condition at all levels.

Interests

Growing up in Southern California, Kristen learned to love city lights and beaches. Most of her childhood was spent playing in the water swimming, riding stand up jet-skis, boating, waterskiing, and jumping off the roof of her house into the pool (not recommended). Her mother still swears she swam before she could walk and while this may be debatable by physics, Kristen nevertheless has a love for water she surely developed as a young child. When she gets too comfortable in life, you will find her taking an improv class to remind her how terrible she is at improv.
