Mira McCoy, EMT

Medical Coordinator at Evoke Wilderness Therapy

As the Medical Coordinator, Mira oversees the health and medical well-being of the participants, visits the field regularly, and provides on-call support to the field staff by phone, troubleshooting issues in real time. Mira works closely with our nurse (Meagan Riddle), MD (Dr. Barton), and DNP (Dr. Brown) to coordinate care for Evoke students. Mira helps to manage student’s medications and provides medical advice to our guides in the field.

Mira is from Madison, Wisconsin, where she attended college at the University of Wisconsin. Mira moved to Santa Clara specifically to work as a field guide for Evoke. She spent two years in the field before moving into the position of medical coordinator. In the past, she has also worked as an environmental educator as well as an EMT on an ambulance. She loves that her work as medical coordinator combines all her interests – the mental health field, the medical field, and of course the outdoors! Her favorite thing to do at work is go out to the field for her medical visits. These visits tend to go longer than expected as Mira loves getting wrapped up in conversations with the students.

On her days off, Mira is an avid reader and is constantly on the hunt for her new favorite hiking trail. Her favorite dinner combo is sushi with a side of French fries. She speaks conversational Spanish and is fluent in Sign Language. Her biggest goal is to someday have her very own dog.
